Best Coast, MGMT, The Kills Unite for Fleetwood Mac Tribute

An impressive roster of artists including Best Coast, the Kills, MGMT, the New Pornographers and ZZ Top’s Billy Gibbons have recorded songs for a new tribute to Fleetwood Mac that will hit stores on September 14th, Consequence of Sound reports. The as-yet-untitled tribute was produced by Randall Poster, who recently presided over the Buddy Holly tribute Rave On, which included contributions from Paul McCartney, Fiona Apple, Modest Mouse, the Black Keys and Lou Reed.

The track listing for the set, which you can see below, features songs from all over the Mac catalog, including cuts from the Peter Green era, the band’s commercial apex Rumours, the artsy, sprawling Tusk and their Eighties period. One notable inclusion on the record is a special collaboration between Sonic Youth’s Lee Ranaldo and Dinosaur Jr.’s J. Mascis on Peter Green’s guitar instrumental “Albatross.” Some artists, such as Best Coast and the New Pornographers, have played or recorded other Fleetwood Mac songs in the past, but have selected a different song for this compilation.
