Yes, the first look at “42,” the long-awaited Jackie Robinson biopic, has arrived — with Jay-Z music in tow. The film, written and directed by Oscar-winner Brian Hegeland follows the career of Robinson, who broke Major League Baseball’s color barrier when he debuted with the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1947. Chadwick Boseman will portray the legendary baseball player.
The movie also features Harrison Ford as Branch Rickey, the Dodgers general manager who decided to sign Robinson to a contract (Robert Redford was originally attached to the role, but ended up dropping out. Jack Nicholson was also attached at one point).
You can watch the full trailer above. Starring Ford, Boseman, Alan Tudyk and Christopher Meloni, “42″ hits theaters on April 12, 2013.
