Los Angeles, CA, United States (4E) – Actor Daniel Day Lewis will be receiving this year’s Stanley Kubrick Britannia Award for Excellence in Film by the British Academy of Film and Television Arts in November.

Nigel Lythgoe, Britannia Chairman, said, “We are thrilled to bestow Daniel with this prestigious award. His remarkable body of work ensures that this honor is more than well-deserved, and we are excited to include him among the other esteemed honorees of the evening.”

In a press release, Lythgoe also talks about BAFTA’s partnership with BBC America, saying, “With the BBC broadcasting the BAFTA Awards in London, it feels only natural that BBC AMERICA would become our broadcasting partner for the Britannia’s, here in LA. They join us for a most incredible evening, as we celebrate and reward some remarkably talented people on our 25th Anniversary.”

Past recipients of the Britannia Award are Albert R. “Cubby” Broccoli, Warren Beatty, Sir Michael Caine, Tom Cruise, Robert De Niro, Clint Eastwood, Colin Firth, Tom Hanks, Dustin Hoffman, Dame Elizabeth Taylor, Helena Bonham Carter and the late Stanley Kubrick himself.

Other honorees joining Day-Lewis are Daniel Craig, Quentin Tarantino, Trey Parker, Matt Stone and Will Wright.

Meanwhile, Perry Simon, General Manager, Channels, BBC Worldwide America, had something to say about the award itself, “This event is a perfect fit for our brand as we continue to bring our audience the best of the UK in the US. We’ve enjoyed a wonderful relationship with BAFTA Los Angeles and this is the logical next step in the evolution of our partnership.”

The BAFTA Awards ceremony will be held on November 7 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel and will be broadcast on November 11, 8 pm ET on BBC America.
