‘Argo’ Premiere: Ben Affleck, George Clooney Hit The Red Carpet (PHOTOS)

Ben Affleck’s “Argo” lit up this year’s Toronto Film Festival, and all its stars came out to celebrate the film’s premiere.

With the release of the 1970s-set film, cineastes and critics have loudly proclaimed: Affleck is no longer plagued by his past moviemaking mistakes; he is now a respectable filmmaker.

Here, Affleck plays as Tony Mendez, a C.I.A. officer who hatched a plan to extricate six American hostages from Iran in 1979, by having them pose as a Canadian film crew. The movie, which is Affleck’s third directorial effort, may sound far-fetched but is actually based on a real-life story, first documented in a 2007 Wired article by Joshuah Bearman.

Take a look at all the stars — including a very adoring George Clooney! — who attended the film’s world premiere. “Argo” hits theaters October 12.
