Los Angeles, CA, United States (4E) – Maiara Walsh has been named the female lead star in “The Starving Games,” a parody for the box office hit “The Hunger Games.”

Twenty-four-year-old Walsh will take on the role of Kantmiss Evershot, a comedic rip off of Jennifer Lawrence’s Katniss Everdeen. Walsh’s acting credits include roles in “Desperate Housewives,” “The Vampire Diaries,” and the TV movie “Mean Girls 2.”

“The Starving Games” is written and directed by Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer, the same bright guys responsible for hit parodies such as “Date Movie,” “Meet the Spartans,” “Spy Hard” and “Vampires Suck.” They are also working on spoofs for “The Avengers”, “Sherlock Holmes” and the “Harry Potter” finale.

Walsh will act alongside Brant Daugherty, who will play the parody version of Gale, originally played by Liam Hemsworth. Daugherty is known for his role in the television series “Pretty Little Liars.”

“The Starving Games” is produced by Peter Safran of The Safran Co., who also produced “Scary Movie” and “Vampires Suck.”

No release date has been announced yet, but filming will begin before the end of October in New Orleans.
