Lamb of God front man Randy Blythe acquitted of manslaughter charge

Paula David – Fourth Estate Cooperative Reporter

Los Angeles, CA, United States (4E) – Randy Blythe, front man of metal band Lamb of God, announced Tuesday that he has been acquitted of manslaughter stemming from a fan’s death in one of their concerts in 2010.

Blythe wrote on his Instagram page, “I have been found not guilty & acquitted of all charges against me. I am a free man.”

The 42-year-old singer was accused of manslaughter after he pushed a 19-year-old Daniel Nosek off the stage of their concert in Prague, causing severe head injury that led to his death a few weeks after.

Blythe was arrested by Czech authorities in June 2012, and was sentenced to a minimum of five years in prison if proven guilty. The rocker, who was released upon bail, said he only learned about the incident upon his arrest.

At the time he said, “As I’ve stated previously, I do not wish to avoid my responsibility, and if I thought I were guilty I would plead guilty right now. I still believe I acted responsibly to protect myself, my band, our equipment, and our audience. I did not strike anyone or run across the stage to push anyone.”

He apologized to Nosek’s family and expressed that he “can understand that pain as only the father of a dead child can.”

Meanwhile, Blythe encouraged his fans and supporters not to forget the impact left by the tragedy. He wrote, “Please remember the family of Daniel Nosek in your thoughts & prayers in this difficult time. I only wish for them peace. Thank you for your support.”

Paula David – Fourth Estate Cooperative Reporter

Los Angeles, CA, United States (4E) – Now that filming is over, actor Jim Carrey is getting back to his normal size after shedding off pounds for his role in the upcoming Warner Bros. film “The Incredible Burt Wonderstone.”

Of his weight-loss, the 51-year-old funnyman told People, “It’s not a happy place to be. I’m back now. I’ve got Mr. Cuddly back and we’re happy.”

As shown in the film’s trailer and promotional photos, Carrey showed off a svelte and chiseled physique playing the role of the main character’s nemesis, street magician Steve Gray.

“It’s not a natural place to live in that kind of shape. It looks great. It’s fantastic and gets a lot of attention, but you have to eat, like, antimatter to stay in that kind of shape.”

Carrey, however, noted that his shirtless stint will continue in the future. He said in jest, “I figured that was Matthew McConaughey’s thing.”

Aside from McConaughey, who cut down weight for his role in “Magic Mike,” other actors known to have trimmed down for movie roles include Hugh Jackman for “Les Miserables,” Jared Leto for “The Dallas Buyers Club,” rapper 50 Cent for “Things Fall Apart” and Christian Bale for “The Machinist.”

Directed by Don Scardino and produced by Chris Bender, Steve Carell, Jake Weiner and Tyler Mitchell, “The Incredible Burt Wonderstone,” starring Steve Carrell, Steve Buscemi, Olivia Wilde and Carrey, is set to hit theatres on March 15.

Paula David – Fourth Estate Cooperative Reporter

London, United Kingdom (4E) – Oliwia Dabrowska, known for her role as the little girl in the red coat in the 1993 Spielberg classic “Schindler’s List,” has expressed getting traumatized for watching the film at a very young age.

Dabrowska said her noteworthy appearance haunted her since watching it when she was 11 years old, despite director Spielberg’s suggestion not to watch it until she was older. “It was too horrible. I could not understand much, but I was sure that I didn’t want to watch ever again in my life.”

“I was ashamed of being in the movie and angry with my mother and father when they told anyone about the part,” she told The Times.

“I kept it secret for a long, long time, though at high school people got to know on the internet.”

She added that being in the iconic Holocaust film sparked unwanted attention and bullying from peers and other people.

Now 24 and a Library Science student, Dabrowska, upon watching the film again when she was 18 (as she promised Spielberg), has realized that she “had been part of something [she] could be proud of.”

Shot in black and white, “Schindler’s List,” adapted from Thomas Keneally’s novel, tells the story of German businessman Oskar Schindler (Liam Neeson), who created a list of Jewish workers and their families in order to save them from deportation and being sent to prison camp.

Jeb Bush hints of 2016 presidential run

Windsor Genova – Fourth Estate Cooperative Contributor

Washington, DC, United States (4E) – Former Florida governor Jeb Bush hinted of his presidential bid in 2016 while promoting his new book on immigration in the NBC show Today on Monday.

Asked by host Matt Lauer is he’s going to run for 2016, Bush replied that he won’t rule it out but won’t declare it either yet.

Bush is the younger brother of George W. Bush, who was president from 2001 to 2009. He is the second son of George H.W. Bush, who was president from 1989 to 1993. A potential 2016 presidential win would make him the third member of the Bush family to clinch the highest post in the land.

During the interview, Bush gave his thoughts about the fiscal crisis, immigration reform, the Republican’s loss in the November presidential elections and New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie. He said Obama’s warning on the dire consequences of sequestration was exaggerated.

His upcoming book “Immigration Wars: Forging an American Solution,” he supports an immigration policy granting legal status to people who enter the country illegally if certain conditions are met, but does not support granting them citizenship.

He blamed the election loss of Mitt Romney to his failure to get support from Hispanic voters and said he was surprised Christie was not going to be among the speakers at next week’s Conservative Political Action Conference. Bush said he loves the New Jersey governor and considers him a strong GOP candidate in 2016.
