    August Breeds Blackkkk Friday

    blackened

Yep.  That’s right.  Black Friday – and it’s not even November yet…

I, as your editor of said artistically expressive site, have declared today (8-24-12) an official blackout day.  Why?  Because I said so…

NO.  In all reality, I’m searching, I’m seeking, I’m waiting – for an answer, comment, or sign of pure red blood life (other than cattle) to show hope in this site as an artistic medium/outlet/venting stradegy…

I need you – the people – to restore faith in me.  To reinvigorate me as your chief artistic advisor would be a damn-near God-send right about now….

Problem = “I hop on the814times.com all of the time; I just forget to ever comment on anything what-so-ever….”

Solution = Read articles.  Decide on what strikes thy fancy.  Cast thy opinions upon said article content in which struck thy fancy.  Wait for clever, wit-riddled reply from editor (rumored guy that “takes care of” said website). All enjoy the shared knowledge that someone reached someone upon an artistic and open level…

Seriously, it’s been long over-due.  Comment.  Speak your mind.  Say something.  We’re waiting to hear from you….

Paul McCartney launches online remix project

    mccartney remix

Paul McCartney is giving fans the chance to remix  his songs by launching an online version of his home recording studio.

The Beatles legend has uploaded four tracks, including the title song  from his hit 1973 album, Band on the Run, to his official website. He’s utilized  digital technology to allow users to adjust the volume of the drums, guitars,  keyboards and vocals and even tinker with the effects and echo levels.

McCartney is inviting fans to record their own remixes of the tracks and send  them to him via the Dropbox file-sharing site, and he’s vowed to upload his  favorites to Soundcloud.com.

A post on the website reads, “In 1971, Paul and (wife) Linda escaped London  to their farm in Scotland. At the farm, Paul had a little studio put in so that  he could demo, experiment and make music. That was RUDE STUDIO. Now YOU can  experiment with Paul’s music online at NEW RUDE STUDIO.”

Elvis Presley’s Original Tomb To be Auctioned Off

    elvis auction

Elvis Presley’s original crypt will be up for auction in June, the New York Times reports. The crypt is part of a two-day “Music Icons” sale of memorabilia to be held by Julien’s Auctions on June 23rd and 24th.

While Elvis now lies buried at Graceland, he was initially interred in this private crypt in the mausoleum of Forest Hill Cemetery in Memphis while his father sought permission from the State of Tennessee to bury him on the singer’s estate. His body was kept at Forest Hill, along with the body of his mother, Gladys, for about two months. The crypt has been empty ever since the Presleys were moved.

Bidding for the crypt will start at $100,000, and the price includes a memorial inscription, use of the chapel for a service, and the opening and closing of the vault and crypt for burial.

“I just consider that if you’re an ultimate fan of Elvis Presley, it’s an opportunity,” Darren Julian of the auction house told the Times. “It’s definitely a conversation piece. Only one person can say, ‘Hey, I’m going to be buried where Elvis Presley was.’”

    An Evening with Simone Felice

    Early Show – Friday, May 25 – 7:00pm @ Club Cafe

Simone Felice is a celebrated songwriter, author, and poet. He was born on 4 October 1976 in Palenville, New York, a small working-class hamlet in the Catskill Mountains. At the age of 12 Simone suffered a brain aneurysm and was pronounced clinically dead for several minutes. Recovering from emergency brain surgery in a local hospital, he spent two months in intensive care, relearning basic motor skills, including reading and writing. In the Fall of 2001, just after the attacks on New York City, Simone began writing songs with his brother Ian.Together they retreated to the woods they grew up in, where jobless with a cheap guitar they wrote and made recordings (two archived collections know as The Big Empty and Mexico) with their friend Doc Brown. In this manner the two brothers clocked four years in complete obscurity, sewing the seeds of what would become (with the edition of younger brother James in the Winter of 2006) The Felice Brothers, whose subsequent albums Tonight at the Arizona, The Felice Brothers, and Yonder is the Clock have garnered international praise, earning these Upstate New York natives an inarguable place in the Great American Songbook. Over the group’s history, from starting out playing New York’s subways and streets, to Radio City Music Hall and beyond, brother Simone has been one of it key lyricists and arrangers, co-writing some of the boys’ most beloved songs…

Cheap Girls w/ Anchors End, There There

    Wednesday, June 6 – 9:30pm @ Brillobox

In lieu of a traditional bio, here are 15 things you should know about Cheap Girls: 1. They are from Lansing, MI. * 2. There are three band members:Drummer Ben Graham, bassist/vocalist Ian Graham and guitarist Adam Aymor. Ben and Ian have the same last name because they are brothers. * 3. The trio was formed in 2007, the result of three musicianswho’d grown up playing in bands around their hometown getting together to make music.“We just wanted to start a simple rock band and just play all the time,” Ian says.“This was fun right off the bat. It was a simple format. I’d write songs, we’d learn them the next day and we’d move on. That’s still what we do.” * 4. The band’s first album was recorded quickly and cheaply and initially self-released in 2008. It is called Find Me A Drink Home. * 5. Their second album, My Roaring 20s, followed in 2009 via Florida label Paper + Plastick, which also reissued Find Me A Drink Home. * 6. Cheap Girls have toured with Against Me!, Lemuria, Laura Stevenson and the Cans and The Menzingers, and performed at Chicago’s Riot Fest and Gainesville’s The Fest. But basically they just want to play with anyone who makes “loud rock.” * (for the rest of the list, head to:

    Check ‘em out: http://bighassle.com/publicity/cheap-girls).”
