Concert Tickets for the 153rd Clearfield County Fair currently on sale

    fair tickets
Concert Tickets for the 153rd Clearfield County Fair are now officially on sale as of Monday, April 22nd, at 10am via the official website http://www.clearfieldcountyfair.com/.

For a limited time, concert tickets will include gate admission.
Catch rising country star Brantley Gilbert on Friday, August 2nd, legendary rock group Lynryd Skynrd on Wednesday, July 31st, budding music sensation Victoria Justice on Tuesday, July 30th and American ska punk band Less Than Jake on Saturday, August 3rd. Track seating for each grandstand show is Standing Room Only. Bleacher and Grandstanding seating are also available.
Brantley Gilbert was named New Male Vocalist of the Year at the 48th Annual Academy of Country Music Awards. Gilbert kicked off the second leg of his HELL ON WHEELS TOUR with a bang having already performed to seven sold-out arenas in Kansas City, MO; Lincoln, NE; Mankato, MN; Corbin, KY; Morgantown, WV; Augusta, GA and Chattanooga, TN. Music critics have noted the close connection Brantley maintains with his fans during the live performances: The Kansas City Star notes, “…what he does say in his blue-collar way resonates with fans, an even mix of males and females, from their 20s to their 40s. That big crowd hooted and hollered and sang through much of it, from the love ballads like “Saving Amy” to the Southern rock anthems like ’G.R.I.T.S.’” Gilbert’s set includes an array of music from his rowdy hits “Country Must Be Country Wide” and “Kick It In The Sticks” to the softer #1 “You Don’t Know Her Like I Do” and “More Than Miles.”
Beyond the tragedy, the history, the raging guitars and the killer songs, ultimately, Lynyrd Skynyrd is about an indomitable will, survival of spirit; unbowed, uniquely American, stubbornly resolute. Led by core members Gary Rossington (guitar), Johnny Van Zant (vocals) and Rickey Medlocke (guitar), along with longtime drummer Michael Cartellone, Lynyrd Skynyrd has maintained a tremendous legacy that began over 40 years ago in Jacksonville, Florida, and continues with the recently released Last Of A Dying Breed (Roadrunner). With a catalog of over 60 albums, sales beyond 30 million worldwide and their beloved classic American rock anthem “Sweet Home Alabama” having over two million downloaded ringtones, Rock & Roll Hall of Famers Lynyrd Skynyrd remains a cultural icon that appeals to all generations. Last of a Dyin’ Breed, the New Studio Album, is on sale now.
Victoria Justice’s star continues to rise.  The 19 year-old, originally from Hollywood, FL is the star of her own hit Nickelodeon series Victorious. Victoria’s vocal talents are showcased on Victorious, the first official soundtrack from the series. A number of the songs have already turned into bonafide smashes, including the driving “Freak the Freak Out,” which has sold more than 600,000 copies on iTunes. Other hit singles off the record include “Beggin’ On Your Knees,” “Best Friend’s Brother,” and the shows theme song “Make it Shine,” which was co-written and produced by Dr. Luke. Combined the album’s first four singles have surpassed 1.8 million total digital downloads on iTunes to date. The busy starlet recently starred in her first ever lead in a feature film entitled “Fun Size,” alongside Chelsea Handler and Johnny Knoxville.
An avalanche of powerful moments tumbles into an engaging live show. The moment when band and fan become one and the same, the moment of interaction, is the type of moment that lasts forever. Twenty years into its pioneering journey, Gainesville,Fla., natives Less Than Jake have had their fair share of moments. Ever-adapting to the constant change in an unsure music industry, Less Than Jake is still making cannonball-sized splashes in the deep end while many of its peers timidly eye shallow waters. With the release of Greetings And Salutations this sentiment is as true as ever. The twelve-track release recorded at The Moathouse in Gainesville and produced by Less Than Jake’s own Roger Lima, includes both limited edition EP’s Season’s Greetings and Greetings From Less Than Jake plus two unreleased songs. The twelve tracks are pure unfiltered LTJ, Sunny ska mixed with barn-burner punk rock, more intended to get long-time fans and first-time listeners warmed up and moshing in their living rooms and singing along to every lyric. Keeping its signature mix of punk roots and horn-driven melodies, songs like “A Return To Headphones” and “Finer Points of Forgiveness” take the best of old-school Less Than Jake and put on a fresh coat of paint for an amped-up listening experience.
Check the Fair’s official website or Facebook page for information on all events, admission, and more!

    Clearfield Revitalization Corporation Fundraiser Event

    CRC fundraiser

The Clearfield Revitalization Corporation, (CRC) implements the Main Street Program in downtown Clearfield and has kept busy working to continue and add new promotions and events for the community. The past three years focused on bringing value to downtown businesses and the community through events like the Fall Festival and 5K Pumpkin Run/Walk which will be held again this year on Saturday October 12. New this year the CRC will host a Beautification Day on Saturday May 18 and a summer festival called the Bloom and Berry Bash on Saturday, June 22. Being that the Main Street Program is in its fourth year in the five year program, a focus on sustainability is critical to the survival of the organization.

The CRC is organizing its first fundraiser in which Vera Bradley purses and accessories will be raffled, and “man” items from local businesses will be raffled as well. Together, the first annual “Vera Bradley, and What He Wants Badly” Fundraiser for the CRC. Some of the “man” items include, but are not limited to, two different gun packages from Grice Gun Shop and Bob’s Army & Navy, a crossbow package plus range time from Jim’s Sports Center, a Precisionist Watch from Zalno Jewelers, and a men’s “Date Night At Home” package including easy to make appetizer, dinner and dessert from Sweet Art Bakery. Vera Bradley packages include but are not limited to purse and wallet packages, baby and duffel bags, and a grand travel package consisting of a suitcase, weekender bag, purse and wallet.

You do not need to be present to win. Tickets are on sale now at the CRC office for $10/each, as one ticket is one chance to win. Tickets are drawn at random and only 1,000 will be sold. All proceeds benefit the Clearfield Revitalization Corp. The raffle will take place on May 5, 2013 at St. Charles Cafe from 2PM-5PM. At the event, enjoy a tasting from Bee Kind Winery, hors d’oeuvres and as well as additional raffles and games that include but are not limited to a diamond necklace from Zalno Jewelers, Grice Gun Shop $300 gift card, Limited Fly Rod Package from Jim’s Sports Center, plus more Vera Bradley purses, book-bag and large duffel bag in brand new summer 2013 prints. 300 people is the max to attend the event. To attend the raffle event on May 5, you must RSVP to the CRC.

Main Street Manager Kellie Swales comments, “We wanted to come up with something catchy, unique, and include downtown businesses. By raffling both girl/guy packages, we can appeal to both audiences and potentially raise more for the CRC. Next year at this time, the CRC will need to be completely sustained by local contributions and fundraisers in order for the CRC to keep Clearfield as a designated Main Street Community. Right now, we have way too many volunteers and stakeholders invested in our projects and believing in our community to lose our Main Street designation and program. We are dedicated to sustain the CRC’s events and projects for the future and together as a community,we can make that happen. Each ticket sold is one step closer to sustainability of the CRC & its Main Street Program. Thank you to the businesses who donated towards this event and the volunteers who helped organize everything.”

After the fundraiser, the CRC is hosting its first annual summer festival called the Bloom and Berry Bash on June 22 in downtown Clearfield. This event will take place in the streets of downtown similar to the fall festival. The CRC is currently accepting vendor applications for crafts, farm markets and kid activities.

For more information about the fundraiser and how to get tickets, please contact the CRC at DiscoverClearfield@gmail.com or 765-6000. The CRC office is located at 125 E. Market Street in downtown Clearfield, located within the Chamber of Commerce offices. You can also find the CRC online at www.DiscoverClearfield.com and on Facebook: Clearfield Revitalization Corp.

2013 Central PA Outdoor & Sport Show

    outdoor & sport show 2013

Central PA Outdoor Show Returns Bigger and Better

The Central PA Outdoor & Sports Show, sponsored by Visit Clearfield County, Johnson Motors and Straub Brewery, will return March 22-24 to the Clearfield County Fairgrounds.
This year’s show will be bigger and better with a “full house” of new exhibitors, products and displays. Attendees will find outfitters, hunting and fishing gear suppliers, fishing charters, resorts and hunting preserves, campers and RVs and more, said event organizers.
“In light of the cancellation of ‘the largest outdoor show in Pennsylvania,’ we have been afforded the opportunity to host a lot of new vendors at our local show,” said Greg Hallstrom, president of the Fair and Park Board.
“Exhibitors are pulling in from as far away as Texas, Illinois, Florida andNewfoundland. We had to keep modifying our floor plans to accommodate the amount of interest we have this year. By far, it is going to be our best show yet.”
Last year’s event attracted more than 8,000 visitors. Event organizers said that if current Web site traffic is any indicator, the show will also see a banner number of attendees this year.
In addition to the vendors, new exhibits and demonstrations have been added to the show schedule.  The line-up will include one of the largest brown bears ever taken with a bow. The bear was killed in Alaska, towered more than 9 feet tall and weighed in at more than 900 pounds.  Also, on exhibit will be one of the world’s Top 20 largest mountain lions taken in the wild.  Both will be on exhibit by Standing Dead Outdoors.
Quack Bank Fetch Retrievers will present a retriever demonstration in the park infield each day.  Other seminars and presentations will be held on topics, such as coyote trapping by Darin “The Animal” Freeborough and turkey calling by Richard Powers III. Buckmasters is returning this year throughout the show to conduct antler scoring.
The Susquehanna Chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation will hold a sanctioned turkey calling contest at 1 p.m. March 24.  Participants must pre-register from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. at the Expo II Building. Contest divisions will be Senior Open, $30; Senior Friction, $25; Owl Hooting, $15; Hunter, $15; Youth (under 15 years), $10; and Poults (under 9 years), $10.
The live fishing pond, sponsored by CNB Bank, and the bird house projects provided by PA Wildlife Habitat, will provide entertainment for children.
A full slate of new demonstrations, speakers and events are being planned including fly-tying and fly-casting competitions as well as other contests.
Show hours are 10 a.m. – 7 p.m. March 22-23 and 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. March 24. Tickets are $3 per adult; children 12 and under are free.  A free shuttle will also be offered March 22-23 and will run between the show and downtown activities at Grice Gun Shop, Bob’s Army & Navy and Jim’s Sports Center.  Tickets can be purchased in advance via the official website.
This is the fifth annual Central PA Outdoor & Sports Show. The show is organized and promoted by First Media Radio, GantDaily.com, WJAC-TV and the Clearfield County Fair & Park Board.
For more information on the Central PA Outdoor & Sports Show, visit the Web site athttp://centralpaoutdoorshow.com.  For more information on the sanctioned turkey calling contest, please contact Nicky Leigey at nicky.leigey@verizon.net.
